“I made clear to the Attorney General that he should do what is necessary to help determine exactly what happened, and to see that justice is done.” —President Obama on tasking the Department of Justice and the FBI to independently investigate the death of Michael Brown

whitehouse I very disappointed in the way the President respond to this tragedy..

He’s done the best he can at the moment, especially sending in the FBI to relieve those asshole cops.  He can’t send in troops without the Govenor’s permission and that Govenor down there is blaming it all on the protesters so…….yeah.   Separation of Powers is a bitch in situations like this.  SMH.

Exactly - we are a country of laws and also PRIVILEGED WHITE FOLK WHO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW!

Reason why people have to educate themselves to know what their different branches of government can AND cannot do….Being mad at Potus shows lack of understanding of what he can do in a situation like thi….Also, it is why ALL local elections are important because local government decides first on any local situations

^^^Reblogging this truth. I was just about to post many of the things stated above in regards to the criticism of POTUS regarding the crisis in Ferguson. Let’s be clear, President Obama is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. While I love Congressman John Lewis, I do not believe that calling in the military in this situation would have alleviated but rather amped up the grave nature of the situation. It was up to the Mayors of Ferguson and St. Louis and the Governor of Missouri to call for the Ferguson PD to stand down.
In fact POTUS made his first public statement on the Michael Brown killing on Tuesday, made a second detailed statement today, Thursday and called and spoke with the Missouri Gov on Wed night. The Gov of Missouri did not make a statement, POTUS did, the Missouri Gov. did not call POTUS but POTUS called him and the Gov was set to go to a fucking town fair at 11:30 am this morning and only called it off and got together an ad hoc press conference this afternoon because POTUS forced his hand to publicly respond to this crisis.
So right now for me it is the democratic Missouri Gov, who is getting my shade for not doing jack shit about Ferguson until POTUS called him out and then for calling that waste of time press conference filled with Uncle Tom Negroes and Chamberlain style appeasement white folks who basically put the onus on the protesters for all the shit that has gone down in Ferguson.

What is happening in Ferguson is exactly what opponents of the rise in military-style policing across America have long feared: when the feds arm white local cops with weapons of war and their superiors encourage them not to just play dress-up but to use their new war toys, it is inevitable that ordinary citizens – especially citizens of color – will get treated as the enemy.
Ferguson is what happens when white suburban cops get weapons of war, writes Sadhbh Walshe.  (via guardian)
