PSA: NEW MOCKINGJAY - PART 1 TRAILER RELEASE THIS WEEKEND - EXPLAINED
The brand new Mockingjay - Part 1 trailer (titled #OurLeaderTheMockingjay) is having its premiere TOMORROW at 12pm PT at the Capitol Gallery (brought to you by Samsung) @ Bar 207 at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego!
The premiere event at 12pm will be introduced by select members of the cast which are still to be announced. We’re hearing no tickets are required to enter, but you do need to line up early.
Following the premiere and introduction, the trailer will be screening at the Gallery until 4pm, so if can’t make it for midday, do not fret! We’ve also heard the trailer will be screening at the Gallery on Saturday from 12-4pm too. You will also receive a brand new Mockingjay pin at the venue too!
On Saturday and Sunday, select Best Buy stores across the US (list here) will be showing the trailer on the Hunger Games Movie Pack App on demo Samsung Galaxy Tab S models (according to @SamsungMobileUS's tweet) at their Samsung Experience Shop sections. The app itself which will be available on Google Play for select devices following the weekend will also let you access Samsung-exclusive content, including screenplays, videos and photos. If you see the trailer at Best Buy, you will also receive a new Mockingjay pin, a poster and a redeemable free ticket to see the film when it comes out!
Following the weekend (and Samsung’s exclusivity rights), we are hearing from international distributors that the trailer is set to debut online in multiple languages for all the fans around the world to watch and enjoy at midnight ET/5am BST on Monday, July 28. On the same day the aforementioned Samsung app will be made available to download, on which you can see the trailer and access other content.
In regards to the content of the trailer, it seems as though the naming of the Panem Addresses and the upcoming trailer has left everyone confused. The official Lionsgate domestic name is the “teaser trailer” and the marketing materials refer to this as the “official trailer”, “teaser trailer” or “exclusive trailer”.
To put it simply, you shouldn’t worry about the word “teaser” in there - the key word is trailer. We are confident, especially with the Panem Address “teasers” that have come out the past few weeks, and the scale of this weekend’s launch which is sponsored by Samsung, that this will be a full-length trailer like the fantastic one for Catching Fire that premiered this time last year.
So sit back and let the excitement begin as the wait is almost over. If you get the chance to see the trailer this weekend, let us know your reactions!
